Perfect Red Lips

ALL WE NEED IS SOME RED LIPSTICK

Bright red lips are a classic look that will never go out of style! This bold lip look will accentuate your lips and brighten your smile.

However, it's not as simple as grabbing the nearest red lipstick and swiping it on. There are a few things to consider if you're looking to master the perfect red lip.

Choosing the Right Shade

If you're looking to rock a red lip, the first step is to choose the correct shade for your skin tone! Your most flattering shade will enhance your features and brighten your complexion.

If you have a cool undertone, your most flattering red lipstick shade will contain cooler blue and purple pigments. Warmer undertones will benefit from red lipstick that contains a warmer red-orange pigment. If your undertone is neutral, you can pull off virtually any red lipstick!

Prepping the Lips

Now that you've found the perfect shade for your skin tone, it's time to prep your lips. Because red lipstick is so bright, it can easily highlight and accentuate any roughness or dryness on the lips.

Start the preparation process with a lip scrub. The scrub will gently slough away any dead skin cells and smooth the texture of your lips. Follow up with a hydrating lip mask or balm to prevent your lips from drying.

Applying Red Lipstick

Now, you're ready to apply!

First, start with a sharpened lip liner! Lipliner will smooth your application process and help prevent your lipstick from bleeding or feathering throughout the day.

It will also allow you to define the contours of your lips precisely. Once your lips have been outlined, you can fill in the lips with your chosen lipstick.

Made a mistake? Don't worry – a bit of concealer on a small, detailed brush can easily clean up any smudges or uneven lines.

Making It Last

You can easily extend the wear time of your red lipstick by setting it!

Fold a tissue in half and gently press it against your lips. Dab your favorite translucent powder over the tissue. This technique will absorb the excess moisture from the lipstick, allowing it to stay put longer. However, you may want to avoid this technique if you prefer a satin or glossy red lip.

Rock Your Red Lips

Now that you've learned all the tips and tricks on creating the perfect red lip, it's time to try it out yourself.

Most people tend to be intimidated by red lipstick. But there's no reason to be! If you choose the correct shade, red lipstick is flattering on everyone and will highlight your unique features.

So, hold your head high and rock that red lip!

Using lip balm and lip scrub can help keep your lips soft, smooth, and well-hydrated. Here's how to use them effectively: Lip Scrub: Start with Clean Lips: Begin with clean, makeup-free lips. Gently remove any lipstick or lip gloss. Apply the Lip Scrub: Take a small amount of lip scrub and apply it to your lips. You can use your finger, a clean lip brush, or a specialized lip scrub applicator. Gently Exfoliate: Using gentle, circular motions, rub the lip scrub over your lips. Focus on any dry or flaky areas. Be careful not to be too rough, as the skin on your lips is delicate. Rinse or Wipe: After exfoliating for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, rinse off the lip scrub with warm water or wipe it away with a damp cloth or tissue. Ensure that all the scrub is removed. Pat Dry: Gently pat your lips dry with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing, as your lips may be sensitive after exfoliation. Apply Lip Balm: Immediately follow up with a lip balm to lock in moisture and keep your lips hydrated. This is especially important after exfoliation, as your lips will be more receptive to moisturization. Use as Needed: Lip scrub can be used a few times a week or as needed, depending on your lips' condition and your preference. Lip Balm: Choose the Right Lip Balm: Select a lip balm that suits your needs. There are various types available, including hydrating lip balms, tinted lip balms, medicated lip balms, and those with SPF for sun protection. Clean Lips: Ensure your lips are clean and free of any lip products before applying lip balm. Apply a Thin Layer: Using the lip balm applicator or your fingertip, apply a thin, even layer of lip balm to your lips. A little goes a long way, so you don't need to over-apply. Reapply as Needed: Reapply lip balm throughout the day as necessary. This might be more frequent in dry or cold weather. Use Before Bed: Applying a generous layer of lip balm before bedtime can help keep your lips well-moisturized while you sleep. Sun Protection: If your lip balm contains SPF, make sure to use it when you're exposed to the sun to protect your lips from UV damage. Using a combination of lip scrub and lip balm is an effective way to maintain smooth and moisturized lips. Lip scrub helps remove dead skin cells and allows your lip balm to penetrate more effectively, while lip balm provides ongoing hydration and protection. Remember to choose products that work well with your skin type and address any specific lip concerns you may have.
